In February, after a month of research, the students will perform a 10 minute biographical presentation which will include a written, pictorial, and dramatic enactment that emphasizes what the person was known for and the societal obstacles that person had to overcome. Brotherhood tours will consist of performances by some students while other students circulate and listen to the Living Museum presentations. As a student approaches a student performer in the living museum, the performer will “become” the person they researched and tell student about their life.
The living museum occurs throughout the Thoreau building. Historical athletes are performed by students in the gym, while a civil rights leader will be presented in the auditorium. This project is a major grade. We hope this will be a great experience for your child both as a performer and tourist of the museum.
